What is Photopuncture?

Photopuncture is "acupuncture with light instead of needles."

Photopuncture is the targeted application of light to energy points (acupoints). A light therapy device with a focused beam is used to specifically activate energy points along the acupuncture meridians to stimulate a systemic reaction in the body. Research has proven that light travels along the meridians just like it does in fiber optic cable. Along the way it opens and balances the energy flow of the body. This method of helping the body to balance and heal has been used for horses, pets, and people since the 1980's. It is FDA approved. And is now being recognized by acupuncture schools and international light therapy programs. It is referred to by several terms in research papers: Photopuncture, Photonic Acupuncture, Laser Acupuncture, Red Light Activation, and Photonic Therapy.

Photopuncture is usually done by applying red, near-infrared, blue, or green light directly to the skin above the acupoint for 5 seconds to 3 minutes per point, depending on the device's power output. These same devices are excellent for lowering pain and increasing circulation in any area of the body that needs some support. This can be done by holding the light over the area for 1 - 3 minutes per area at least once a day. It can be used with horse, pets, animals, and people.
